Find out why Unravel Me by Becka Mack is my top favorite read of the year!

Unravel Me by Becka Mack is top favorite single mom, hockey romance that is equally hilarious and emotional, with an unforgettable found family that will steal your heart!

Golden boy. Notorious serial dater. The NHL’s most eligible bachelor.
That’s what the headlines say about me, at least. I wish I could say they’re not accurate, but truthfully? I don’t even know who I am anymore.
Between a soul-crushing ex-girlfriend and a never-ending queue of dates gone wrong, one thing has become glaringly obvious: I don’t want to be Adam Lockwood.
So when my dog decides to play matchmaker, taking down a sweet little thing with rose gold waves, brilliant green eyes, and a smile for days, I can’t believe my luck that she doesn’t have a clue who I am. I know I should tell her, but for once in my life someone sees the man behind the goalie mask.
Rosie gives me all of her–her heartache, her laughter, and her son. But me? I’m holding on a little too tightly to the pieces I’m scared to give up, the pieces she might not like.
One small lie becomes a secret hanging above my head, but what if there’s another one hiding right around the corner?
Suddenly, my deepest desire becomes my biggest fear.
I’m terrified she’s going to unravel me.
I received Unravel Me by Becka Mack for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
ALL OF THE STARS FOR UNRAVEL ME BY BECKA MACK, MY TOP FAVORITE READ OF THE YEAR!!!!!!! I’m still on a huge high with this book.
“You’re not my first choice, Rosie. You’re the only goddamn option.”
We met Adam in Consider Me , where he was in a very toxic relationship. In Play With Me, we see him navigate the dating world. And finally we get his book, to where it starts by him going on dates and realizing it’s almost impossible to find someone who loves dogs and loves him for him, and not for his pro-athlete status. He’s seen his friends find love, and he’s desperate to experience that for himself. When he goes on a hike with his dog Bear, he never expects to get his world turned on its axis, but that’s exactly what happens when he meets Rosie.
“So…dinner? Wednesday?”
Rosie nods eagerly, then pauses. “But wait. Is it just a friend date? Or is it like…a dinner date? Like a date-date? Like two people having dinner, like a…”
“Date?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah.” I grin. “It’s a date.”
“Okay. Cool. So cool.” Her head bobs. “I like that.”
“Good. Because I gotta tell ya, Rosie, the thoughts I’ve been having would get just a friend into an awful lot of trouble.”
Our girl Rosie is the most down-to-earth, kindest, caring, lovable woman. She’s in vet school, as well as volunteering at a shelter for animals. Her heart is so big, all ready to give love to any person and animal. Her connection with Adam is immediate, and she knows it can go somewhere. But she also has a son to think about, and she’s not sure how Adam will react.
“That I have a son? You know, in case that wasn’t something you wanted in your life.”
“Why would that matter?”
“It matters to a lot of people.”
“It doesn’t matter to me. Now I get two for the price of one.”
Listen, I already knew I loved Adam, but it was very at the beginning when he meets Rosie’s son that it solidified my love for him. His reaction to Rosie having a son was the absolute cutest and sweetest thing I’ve ever read! Little Connor would see him and instantly call him “dada” without ever having seen him, and Adam doesn’t even bat an eye every time he does it.
“Can I tell you a secret?” I whisper, looking up at Connor. “I just want to be good enough for you two, and I’m scared I won’t be. But I promise, I’m gonna try my hardest.”
He smiles at me, then rests his forehead against mine, patting my cheek. “Good Dada.”
“Thanks, buddy. I needed that.”
Both Adam and Rosie were in the foster care system. While Adam found a family very quickly, Rosie had to navigate the system until she was of age, and this is where Rosie’s feelings on being unwanted come into play. It was beautiful to see her grow out of her shelf and accept that she’s loved and she’s wanted. It made me want to squish her in a hug and never let her go!
“I am kind, I am strong, I am beautiful. The people who are meant to be in my life will find me.”
“I am not somebody else’s opinion of me,” I whisper. “I’m strong. I’m resilient. My heart is big and kind. I’m always learning. I’m the only one of me.”
My love for this story and the characters truly knows no bounds. Becka Mack crafted characters that feel so real, while also giving them a magical touch that I haven’t experienced in years! Adam and Rosie are truly one of a kind. Their connection, communication, matureness… It’s part of the reason why this book became a favorite. Adam came to steal the spotlight from every book boyfriend I’ve ever had, and he’s here to stay!
“You didn’t throw my whole world off balance. You centered it. It was like you were my gravity, and every moment I was with you, everything settled into place. My fears, my insecurities, my hopes, and my dreams. I was at peace with everything, as long as you were by my side.”
He tucks my hair behind my ear, his thumb sweeping over the dimple in my chin as he smiles.
“With you, I found my gravity. That’s worth so much more than my chaos.”
The found family in this book is truly the best I’ve read. The friendships feel like a real family, filled with teasing and banter, as well as understanding, support, love; they all felt like a bunch of brothers and sisters, and if that’s not how a found family should be like, then I don’t want it. Adam even goes to his friends’ girlfriends for advise on how to date Rosie, and the outcome was HILARIOUS! This is unique a bunch, and I just know I will feel their loss once this series ends.

“Welcome, everyone, to the first official meeting of ‘Adam’s Road to Hope: One Man’s Journey to Pussy Palace.’ Don’t forget to pick up a gift basket and get your time cards punched on the way out. Sangria is in the fridge, snacks are on the table, and pizza will be here in thirty.” Cara slings one leg over the other, clasps her hands together under her chin, and smiles. “Class is now in session.”
Unravel Me by Becka Mack shined so bright with the author’s writing. Seeing her evolution with just three books says a lot. I have loved every single book in this series, each one getting 5 stars from me, something I NEVER do. Every time I read a series, I go back and adjust ratings to a lower star, because I always want to give 5 stars to just one book in a series. But with this world that Becka created, it’s impossible for me to lower ratings for the other books, because they all had their unique style, unique personalities, and each one shined individually for me. Granted, Adam’s story takes first place!
“If I’m your happy ending, you’re my heaven. There’s nothing else I need from this world. I could live here forever, in this place where I’m yours and you’re mine. There’s never been anything more beautiful than this version of paradise. I’m certain of it.”
