Whisper Reviews is going to be a feature in the blog where I showcase books I needed to review eons ago (not that long, but kind of) and write a short review for each book.

Below, I have a beautiful rom-com mixed with fanfic; a fantasy with a unique world that could have been fleshed out better; a historical romance with a Lord who's ruthless and a woman fighting for her beliefs.

Olivia Dade bursts onto the scene in this delightfully fun romantic comedy set in the world of fanfiction, in which a devoted fan goes on an unexpected date with her celebrity crush, who’s secretly posting fanfiction of his own.

Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. While the world knows him as Aeneas, the star of the biggest show on TV, Gods of the Gates, he's known to fanfiction readers as Book!AeneasWouldNever, an anonymous and popular poster. Marcus is able to get out his own frustrations with his character through his stories, especially the ones that feature the internet’s favorite couple to ship, Aeneas and Lavinia. But if anyone ever found out about his online persona, he’d be fired. Immediately.

April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s hidden her fanfiction and cosplay hobby from her “real life” for years—but not anymore. When she decides to post her latest Lavinia creation on Twitter, her photo goes viral. Trolls and supporters alike are commenting on her plus-size take, but when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her pic and asks her out on a date to spite her critics, she realizes life is really stranger than fanfiction.

Even though their first date is a disaster, Marcus quickly realizes that he wants much more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. And when he discovers she’s actually Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to hide from her.

With love and Marcus’s career on the line, can the two of them stop hiding once and for all, or will a match made in fandom end up prematurely cancelled?
This was such a cute romance novel! Spoiler Alert is the first book I read by Olivia Dade, and rest assured, it won't be the last!

I totally adored the body-positivity in April's story-line. I think it was refreshing to see a plus-sized female character owning her body and not giving two shits what everyone else thought. I love that she felt like she didn't owe anybody anything when it came to herself, especially when it came to becoming "fit". Honestly, April had me cheering in various occasions through the book. She would say and think some of the best lines when it came to accepting herself. April may not have had to physically fight someone or anything like that, but in my eyes, she's a badass.

I also loved how April was very open with her opinions, but in a very pleasant way. She was also someone who didn't change herself when the media was putting her in the spotlight; she simply stayed true to herself.

"I want to be loved and liked and desired not because of my size, not despite my size, but because I'm ME. My character, my choices, my words."

Then we have our cute, little (maybe not so little) cinnamon roll! Or shall I say unicorn? ... Either way, Marcus Caster-Hyphen-Rupp! Everyone knows I love me some bad guys and villains, but every once in a while, I love the good guy, and Marcus just threw the ball out of the park! I absolutely fell for the way he'd treat April and for how accepting he was about her body. I mean, the guy suggested going to different doughnut shops, one after the other, so April could enjoy herself. Like, WHAT?! Where did this guy come from?!

(I need to point out that I want to try a cocroffinut, which is "coffee/croissant/muffin/doughnut hybrid", which "contains the caffeine equivalent of four espressos." I should probably tell them to make it decaf so I don't die.)

In the end, both April and Marcus stole my heart. I even got emotional. I was on the verge of tears, okay?! If you know me, you know I have a stone-cold heart when it comes to crying with a book, but I was just feeling it all with this one!

I cannot recommend Spoiler Alert enough! You should totally check it out!

They use magic to silence the world. Who will break the hush?

Seventeen-year-old Shae has led a seemingly quiet life, joking with her best friend Fiona, and chatting with Mads, the neighborhood boy who always knows how to make her smile. All while secretly keeping her fears at bay… Of the disease that took her brother’s life. Of how her dreams seem to bleed into reality around her. Of a group of justice seekers called the Bards who claim to use the magic of Telling to keep her community safe.

When her mother is murdered, she can no longer pretend.

Not knowing who to trust, Shae journeys to unlock the truth, instead finding a new enemy keen to destroy her, a brooding boy with dark secrets, and an untold power she never thought possible.
This was a surprisingly quick book, although it had an unbelievable slow start. It wasn’t until the 40% mark that it picked up.

Aside from that, I enjoyed the story for the most part. It definitely had my mind going in a million different directions, and at times, I’d get a little lost. I do think the world-building could have used more work. I think the magical system wasn't very fleshed out, to the point I felt like I was missing a lot of key points to fully understand what was going on. The characters were very superficial and not much can be said about them.

I'm not here to stay silent and afraid. I am here for answers.

All in all, it was an entertaining story, but it definitely was lacking. After that ending, I’m looking forward to the sequel.

They are a dangerous duke, a fierce lord, and an infamous earl—dark, bold, brave men who know exactly what they want. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees...

He is first and foremost—at everything. A man who's made his own way in the world through ruthless cunning and sheer force of will. A strong and imposing Scot who can turn on the charm but does not suffer fools. His title: Lord Chief Justice of the High Court. His name: Cassius Gerard Ramsay. His mission: To investigate the goings-on at London's most notorious gaming hell, owned and operated by one of the most intriguing and desirable women he's ever met.

IN THIS GAME OF LOVE, THE RULES DO NOT APPLY

Cecelia Teague was an orphan facing a rather dire future—until a secret benefactor from her mother's scandalous past swept into her life. Sent to prestigious boarding school and later to university, Cecelia believed high society was at her fingertips...Then, from out of nowhere, she became the inheritor of a gambling establishment. Now Cecelia must live two lives: one as a proper lady who finds herself undeniably drawn to Lord Ramsay and the other as a savvy gaming hell owner trying to save her business from the very same man. He has no idea she is both women...and Cecelia would like to keep it that way. But what happens when consuming passion and escalating danger threaten to reveal the truth?
𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 is truly fantastic! It will have you on the edge of your seat with excitement and will have you swooning for our grumpy and ruthless hero! The heroine is a woman who has gone through a lot during her life, yet still is a sweetheart and she’s full of love and compassion to give. Because she’s a woman, she’s been treated differently her entire life, which makes her so strong and devoted to fight for women’s rights! 💪🏽

A woman is not a weakness, but a strength.

Then we have our ruthless hero, with a softy heart. 🥺 At first, I truly didn't know what to think of him. I was glad that, from the beginning, he had felt attraction and something more towards Cecelia. From that, he noticed how some of his views had been wrong. I loved how protective he was with Cecelia and Phoebe. It was so endearing!

"A bruise on yer skin is like an open wound on my soul. It hurts me to look."

This was such an intriguing, thrilling, adventure-filled romance! I cannot wait for Frank's story!
