Everyone wants new followers…until they follow you home.

Audrey Miller has an enviable new job at the Smithsonian, a body by reformer Pilates, an apartment door with a broken lock, and hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers to bear witness to it all. Having just moved to Washington, DC, Audrey busies herself impressing her new boss, interacting with her online fan base, and staving off a creepy upstairs neighbor with the help of the only two people she knows in town: an ex-boyfriend she can’t stay away from and a sorority sister with a high-powered job and a mysterious past.

But Audrey’s faulty door may be the least of her security concerns. Unbeknownst to her, her move has brought her within striking distance of someone who’s obsessively followed her social media presence for years—from her first WordPress blog to her most recent Instagram Story. No longer content to simply follow her carefully curated life from a distance, he consults the dark web for advice on how to make Audrey his and his alone. In his quest to win her heart, nothing is off-limits—and nothing is private.
Honestly, guys, this book creeped me out. I'm always sharing on social media where I am and what I'm doing. I should seriously consider stopping because it can have terrible consequences.

Audrey shared so much of herself online. She invited this. She wanted it.

Audrey is an Influencer on Instagram. She has millions of followers and she shares every aspect of her life online. Word of advice: don't follow Audrey's footsteps. She won herself a stalker who has memorized everything of her life. And when she moves to his city, he knows he can't stay away, but instead, he knows he needs to have her and soon. Besides, she'll totally see how much he loves her and ignore his stalkering ways, right?

I couldn't go on like this. She was in my city, within my grasp. I had to do something.

This book has been dubbed for fans of YOU, and while that is true, it's also very different. In a way, I found this creepier than YOU for the reason that we don't know who's doing the stalking. While we do get chapters on his point of view, we don't get a name. What we do get is seeing the stalking through Audrey's eyes and how scared she is to even sleep in her apartment. Every noise and every stare has her on high alert.

I felt like I was Audrey. The author made it feel so real to me that I ended up putting myself in Audrey's shoes for just once, and it was like a hole was opened in the book to suck me in and feel what Audrey was going through and experience it with her. My heart was racing through 99.99% of the book. There wasn't one moment where I felt like I could breathe easily.

I'd been a devoted follower for years, made her my religion.

Audrey has friends she knows she can rely on, but can she really? Nick is her ex-boyfriend who lives in the city and has become her friend-with-benefits, but has become very jealous recently. And Cat is someone she met at college and has been there for Audrey through a lot. But Cat is hiding a secret she doesn't want Audrey to find out about. Unfortunately, Max comes into the picture, someone from Cat's past who knows what she did and suddenly, she fears that Max will come clean to Audrey, so she might have to do something about that.

I was always kept guessing who was "him". I honestly never guessed until it was close to being revealed. And the ending!!! THAT FREAKING ENDING LEFT ME INSANE! Like, WTF?! It's safe to say I'm keeping Kathleen Barber in my eyesight from now on, because I need more of her writing.
